I think that it is particularly important to make buying simple, as after all selling online opens you up to a whole variety of potential customers worldwide should you so choose.

It can be difficult for online writers to appear as an authority in their field.

I particularly like the idea of podcasts and webcasts adding a voice and a face to a person or brand. This can definitely help to build trust between customers and website owners.

Really interesting and extensive description of how links can aid search engine optimisation and help businesses to boost sales.

As you have explained links are very important from an SEO point of view, but also to direct potential customers to the pages that companies particularly want them to view.

I totally agree with your points, a website is a great tool for any business to sell, they simply need to know how to use it properly.

There have been so many occasions when I have visited a website taken one look and backed off. You really do have just a few seconds to impress.

I agree that for any writer space is important, even if that just means quiet, away from a noisy family or the buzz of the television.

Comfort is important, I don’t think I would get much work done fending off spiders under the stairs!

The Internet offers so many opportunities to such a wide range of people, it is incredibly accessible and relatively cheaper and easier than starting a business on the high street.

I think that if you have a good, solid idea and are quite Internet savvy then it is the perfect place to make some cash.

I totally agree with you here! Particularly when you are trying to sell online it is so important to include pictures. I think one thing that puts people off buying online is the unknown, not knowing what the product is what it looks like, the size etc. An image can give you an idea of all of these things.

You’re spot on. The easier it is for the site visitor to perform the most desired action (MDA), whether it’s opting in, buying something, filling out a form – whatever the MDA – the easier it is to complete the MDA, the more often it will be performed.

That’s why a ramble on about content accessibility as much as I do. If the writer makes the message accessible and defines the benefits of performing the MDA, the site will enjoy more success.

I am not a web designer, but i do work with a fair few! Really interesting comment!

Something that I have learned is that it is important to make the site user friendly, making it easy for the business to sell and simple for the customer to buy.

The main aim of an online business is for them to sell their products or services and so I think that making the customer aware of what they do and making it easy to see how to access these products and services is incredibly important.

I think that adding a press kit to your website is a great idea!

When starting a business online it is pretty easy to get caught up in the online marketing, this is fair enough as making your business visible to online consumers is a top priority.

However, I totally agree that there is nothing wrong with trying to target other media, print and broadcast and get some organic promotion that way.
